Memories

One of my favorite memories of Len was when  he was working on our old house. He was sheetrocking the 2 main rooms and also doing tile ceilings in them. Len was nice enough to have taken his vacation time to do this work so we could get moved into the house. Well, a couple of cold ones helped lighten the work! I remember he said that 'old houses like this were the reason he quit carpentry for a living'! Finally later in the week  when the last tile was to be installed, he told me he was going to leave one of the empty, brown bottles, up in the ceiing! We all laughed and he did, so that bottle is still up there...43 years later!!

The best, best, best memory with my grandpa was on holidays when we would all go to grandma and grandpa's house for a holiday dinner. Those were the best days of the year because the entire Gokey family would all be together.  If it wasn't for that wonderful man, my grandpa, most of us would not be here. Thank you grandpa. I love you and miss you sooooo much!

I, too, have soooo many wonderful memories with my grandpa. One of my best memories with grandpa was also picking berries with grandpa and grandma. I will never forget grandpa picking blueberries while on his belly. Also playing cards with grandpa and grandma was a best memory. The funniest thing was when his hair would stand straight up on end when he would got nervous when he was losing at cards. I have pictures to prove it...lol! Another memory I have was when I was very young and my family and I went to Tupper Lake to visit grandpa while he was at work. While there, we ran into one of his friends. Well, his friend thought it would be funny to joke infront of me and say "I don't like your grandpa" or something like that. Well, I was not happy, and got really upset and started to stick up for my grandpa. That was the first time in my life I remember yelling at an adult. I remember grandpa got a kick out that. I have so many more wonderful memories with my grandpa. I will post more of them later and I look forward to reading about everyone elses memories with grandpa. Love you so much Grandpa!

I have many great memories of my grandfather. I think about him every single day. It's still very difficult thinking that he is no longer with us. Then I remember that he is never really gone. He is always with me and always with you too.

One of my favorite memories was when Grandpa and Grandma took Angie and I blueberry picking as children. I remember Grandpa would eat more blueberries then he would put into his basket. I also remember that when his legs grew tired, he laid down on the field and continued to pick (and eat) blueberries from that position.

Another favorite memory is family trips that included Grandpa and Grandma. I loved when they would come to see us in Florida. Grandpa was excited to come see us. I still have the letters that Grandpa wrote me, telling me how scared he was to fly. When they got to Florida, we played cards until late in the night. Grandpa cheated and hid cards under his hat, but we didn't really mind. Another favorite vacation was our RV road trip that we took to Tennessee. I had the chance to interview Grandpa for a class assignment and found out a lot of great things about him (such as how much he enjoyed blueberry picking with his parents and family).
